A face made for hiding
The red hood comes through the front gate and calls Scarlet by her name. Scarlet answers from behind the steel beak locked over her face.
“You’re a hard woman to find,” the red hood says. Scarlet answers that she has been told she has a face for hiding. Then she concedes one thing: she is impressed the red hood got past that gate at all. “I’ve had some practice,” the red hood says.
They stand in the same stone room, hangings on the walls. The red hood is masked as well, in red. Scarlet’s curved sword comes up between them, and the fight starts there.

The world
The Old World has burned. In what is left of it, faces stay covered. Head-wraps go up to the eyes. Over them sit round goggles or a beak, in steel or in red cloth. Scarlet wears the steel one, locked over her face, with ashen cloth wound from crown to shoulder and one pauldron of blackened plate. She carries a curved scythe-sword and a ringed staff. A voice opens the film with “I was born in the ashes of the Old World.” The film is published with that voice unnamed, and this page does not name it either. I built this world out from her: one full sheet with turnarounds and action poses, then a hero render. The rest follows.

Someone comes through the front gate anyway, in a red hood and a red beak, and calls Scarlet by her name. She answers without lifting the steel, and it stays down for the whole conversation. “You’re a hard woman to find, Scarlet.” She replies that she has been told she has a face for hiding. Then she concedes one thing: she is impressed the red hood got past that gate at all. “I’ve had some practice.” They stand in the same stone room, hangings on the walls, both masked. Scarlet’s curved sword comes up between them and the fight starts there. Neither mask comes off.
